On the Beds page you find all the beds in your garden for the selected year. This is where you create new beds, edit existing ones and keep track of what grows where. There are two views: the Overview and the Garden plan. You switch between them with the two buttons at the top.
Overview
In the Overview you see every bed as its own card. Each card shows the name of the bed, a small top view with the plants and, below that, the list of plants growing in the bed.
The top view shows the bed as it looks from above. By default it shows the month when the most is growing in the bed. That way you get a picture of how full the bed will be in summer, even in winter.
The icons at the bottom of each card take you straight to the matching actions. The plant icon opens the bed so you can plan your plants, see Planting a bed for more. The pencil lets you edit the key details of the bed, such as name or size. The bin deletes the bed.
At the top right you create another bed with Create new bed, described under Creating beds. With Year change you carry your garden over into a new year, see Year change.
Sorting beds
You decide the order your beds appear in. At the bottom left of each card there is an icon with three lines. Grab a card by this icon and drag it where you want it. The other cards make room as you go. Let go and the new order is saved.
The order applies everywhere your beds show up, not just in the Overview. The Garden Fairy also plans your beds in this order.
Garden plan
The Garden plan is an extra, optional feature that you do not need for planning the individual beds. For many people the name and the order of the beds are enough to find their way around. But if you think more visually, you will enjoy this.
In the Garden plan you arrange your beds the way they really lie in your garden. Every bed is drawn to scale, so a large bed is bigger than a small one. Bit by bit this builds a plan of your garden seen from above.
As long as you have not placed a bed, it appears at the top under Beds not arranged yet. From there you drag it into the plan.
The month slider
Above the plan there is a slider for the month. When it is set to Auto, each bed shows the month when the most is growing in it. Drag the slider to a particular month, from January to December, and all beds show exactly that month. That way you see at a glance how your whole garden looks in a given month.
Moving and zooming the plan
You move the visible section by dragging an empty spot in the plan with the mouse button held down. On a phone you simply swipe with your finger. To zoom in and out, use the mouse wheel on the computer or the two magnifier icons. On a phone you pinch the plan open or closed with two fingers.
Arranging beds
To arrange them, click Arrange. Now you can drag your beds into place. Drag a bed with the mouse button held down or with your finger to where you want it. To rotate it, hold the arrow icon on the bed and turn the bed in the right direction. That way you can also show beds that lie at an angle to the others. The plants and the name always stay upright and easy to read.
If you have not placed a bed yet, drag it from the Beds not arranged yet area straight into the plan. Your arrangement is saved automatically. When you are done, click Done.
The pencil icon at the bottom of a bed opens that bed for editing at any time.
Fullscreen
The icon with the four arrows at the top right shows the Garden plan across the whole screen. That is especially handy on a phone, because you see more of your garden. The icon with the arrows pointing inwards takes you back out of fullscreen.
