How grove works

  1. Create your beds

    Create beds and map out your garden with them. You choose how: from completely free planning, where you lay out every patch of soil yourself, to row companion planting systems that set the structure and the crop sequence for you. All your beds together make up your garden plan.

  2. Plan your plants

    Start with your plant wishlist or go straight to the bed plan. Plan plants month by month across the whole year, find them in seconds with powerful filters, and grove shows you the good and the bad neighbours and the crop rotation that fits.

  3. Tasks and harvest

    grove creates tasks for pre-growing and transplanting, and the harvest preview shows you when you can pick what and where the gaps in your year still are. With the year change you carry your beds into the new season, rotate plantings from bed to bed and see straight away whether the crop rotation works out.

The Garden Fairy plants a single bed or your whole garden. She plans vegetables and green manure, watches the neighbours and the crop rotation and works from your wishlist. Every suggestion shows up as a preview first. You check it, change it and keep what you like.

Who grove is for

    You have one or two raised beds and simply want to harvest good vegetables. grove shows you which plants get along and when to put them in. You do not need to know companion planting yet, you will pick it up.

    You garden after Gertrud Franck or the Langerhorst family. grove knows these systems, plans the rows with you and moves them on automatically at the year change.

You can freely combine all bed types in one garden: a large bed after the Langerhorst family, for example, with raised beds as free beds next to it.

For more than 120 vegetable species you will find good neighbours, preceding and following crops and planting times here. In grove itself you use the plant database with very efficient filters and with interactive cross tables for neighbours and crop rotation.

Common questions

Do I need an account?
Yes. With an account grove syncs your beds between browser, phone and tablet. You register with an email address or sign in with Apple or Google.
Which devices does grove run on?
In the browser on desktop, tablet and phone at app.grove.eco. There are also apps for iPhone and iPad in the App Store and for Android on Google Play. They all use the same account.
Does grove work offline?
The iOS and Android apps have an offline reading mode: you can look at beds, tasks and plants without a connection. For planning and making changes grove needs an internet connection.
Do I have to take out a subscription?
If you register through the website, you do not need a subscription. You pay once for a year, and nothing renews automatically after that.
How do I cancel?
If you took out a subscription through the website, you cancel it in the settings under Membership, right up to the last day before it renews. We remind you by email a week beforehand. Purchases made in the app are managed in your App Store or Google Play account.
Where is my data stored?
All data sits on servers in Germany. We do not sell data. The details are in the privacy policy.

Who is behind grove

grove is built by Looking4Cache UG in beautiful Hohenlohe. It grew out of our own gardening practice and the wish for a bed planner that stays simple and still does everything. In 2018 we started developing the app and building the plant database.
